Introduction:
That your father suffered stagnation does not mean that you will suffer it. That he suffered poverty is not a guaranty that you will suffer same.
When it comes to breaking generational curses, prayer, fasting, faith and crying alone are not enough. But there are practical steps to follow when you want to break generational curses.

In Deuteronomy 2:2-3, the Lord commanded His people to turn and move that they have long overstayed in the mountain. There is a time when courses in a family is stayed long enough and needed to be broken.

Some generational curses could be generic sickness or disease, it could be poverty, near-success syndrome, marital delay and divorce or barrenness.

My father served an idol that they said I was the one to continue after my father. But I told them no, not possible. I told my father that as he would be dying so would he die with the idol. And as God would have it I was present when my father breathed his last breath. And as soon as he breathed his last the idol fell from where it was kept. That was when I knew that my father was going with it.

I took the idol to be burnt but my uncle resisted me. He said that instead of burning the idol that I should return it to Arochukwu – the place it came from. I told them that I wouldn’t go there. Then he demanded for a transport fare from me to take it himself to the place, and of course , I declined.

My uncle looked for money, packaged the idol and returned it to the place. But to the amazement of everyone, even before the man could return from the journey, the idol mysteriously has returned to its position in our house. That was when I declared war against it. I took my anointing oil and some fuel and packaged back the idol, sprinkled the anointing oil on it and burnt it with the fuel. And up till today nothing happened. The curse has been broken.

Steps To Breaking Generational Curses

1. Genuine Repentance.
   If you will not suffer what your father suffered then don’t follow the steps of your father. If your father was a womanizer, do not be a womanizer. Repentance is number one key to breaking generational curses.
   Jesus has asked you to come to him, so that he would redeem you. Matthew 11:28.
   Proverbs 28:18,1John 1:9
   For you to be free from that generational curses, repent genuinely from your heart. Galatians 3:13-14.
2. You Need Obedience To God And His Words
   If you must come out of your generational curses, you must be obedience.
   You need to comply with the Lord and His words. Proverbs 4:20-22 Job 22:11. Psalms 107:20. Deuteronomy 28:1. (Job 33:11-12) Isaiah 1:19
3. Embrace Heartfelt Prayer
   James 5:16-18
   Prayer is a vital tool in breaking generational curses.
   Remember the prayer of Hannah. Isaiah 38:5
4. Mercy
   You need to ask God for mercy. God can never despise the cry of mercy.
   Mark 10:46-52 Matthew 17:15
5. Raise a Sacrifice.
   Raise something that cost you something. When you sacrifice and you are not crying then it is not a sacrifice. Sacrifice is what will pain you. Sacrifice works faster than prayer.
   Isaiah 65:24.
   When you have done all the above steps but it seems nothing is happening, raise a sacrifice to the Lord. Sow in tears and rejoice while reaping. Psalms 126:1-6. Psalms 50:5. Every sacrifice you give that could not move a tear from your eyes then it is an offering not a sacrifice.
   There was a time when my three grown up sisters were at home without marriage. What I did was to pray to the Lord an raised a sacrifice, and the three of them all got married that same year
   Any gold you refuse to serve your God with, will soon become your God.
   When you raise an altar of sacrifice your plagues would cease. 2 Samuel 24:24-25.
