The Members of the Nsukka Youths Association, in Nsukka Local Government area of Enugu State have described as illegal the dissolution of the Association by the President General, Nsukka Town Union.

The group made this known while speaking to newsmen on the dissolution in Nsukka.

Speaking on behalf of the association, the president, Comrade Chidokwe Attama condemned the excesses noticeable in the president General of the Nsukka Town Union, stressing that the union has no constitutional right to disolve them.

According to the President, Nsukka Youths Association is an independent body that determines how it runs its affairs, without any interference from the Town Union.

He enjoined both the Nsukka Local Government and the Enugu state government to call the town Union to order to enable the Association conduct election for it’s new executives.

Reacting to the alleged disolution, the President General, Nsukka Town Union, Chief Joseph Onyeke denied that the union disolved Nsukka youths Association but said they only formed a caretaker committee to handle the affairs of the youths because those in the Association have over stayed.

Chief Onyeke who did not state clearly the stance of the Constitution in their action, added that the members of the group have outgrown the age bracket permitted in the Association.

Newsmen report that the said dissolved Nsukka Youths Association disclosed that plans were on ground to conduct election for the new executives into the association before the said dissolution came up.
