The five aggrieved People’s Democratic Party governors, the G-5, led by the Rivers State Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike, which comprises of Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu states have met with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in London, the United Kingdom.

The APC standard bearer was said to have lobbied for the endorsement of the five governors during the meeting which was held on Tuesday.
The governors and some political heavyweights from the South and North-Central had vowed not to support the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over the refusal of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign after Atiku obtained the presidential ticket of the party.

The governors and some political heavyweights from the South and North-Central had vowed not to support the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over the refusal of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign after Atiku obtained the presidential ticket of the party.

A close source had disclosed to The Slides that Governor Wike has secretly directed all his supporters and faction of the PDP in his state to work with the leadership of the APC in the South-South region led by Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi and Rt. Hon. Ovie Omo-agege. The plan is to deliver Tinubu as the president and Mr. Fubara, the PDP candidate as the governor of the state.

His counterparts in other states are expected to do same in their respective states and regions. The Enugu State Governor, has reportedly started aligning with the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma on modalities that would ensure the victory of Mr. Tinubu in the 2023 general elections. But it seems the whole arrangement wouldn’t go the same trend proposed in Rivers because Governor Hope has special interest in Enugu State as his closest ally, Chief Uche Nnaji, is the APC Guber Candidate of Enugu State and wants him delivered.

Ugwuanyi is most likely to rather concentrate on his senatorial ambition than the governorship tussle, however Ugwuanyi is receiving stiff opposition in Enugu-North, his constituency where many believe he couldn’t attract any remarkable developmental project during his 12 years in the House of Representatives and 8 years as a governor.

It is now a game of dilemma for Gov. Ugwuanyi whether to continue in the lane of his leader, Gov. Wike, or to return fully to Atiku and swallow his vomits.

Meanwhile the G-5 has promised to officially make known their decision on which presidential candidate to support and campaign for in early January, 2023.
