The gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC in Enugu State, Chief Uche Nnaji has kick-started his Campaign with a visit to Uzo-Uwani Local Government. Accompanied by his running mate Barr. George Ogara Tabugbo, the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Ugochukwu Agballa and a host of other APC chieftains, Chief Uche thanked the electorates for their massive turnout in the event assuring them of total turnaround of the LG if elected.
He promised to make Enugu State, through Uzo-Uwani, an oil producing state. In line with his blueprint for the transformation of the state, he stated that one of his priorities is building a 10 Megawatts Captive Power to be powered by the gas deposit in the LG and to supply the whole of Nsukka zone and to link the excess to the national grid while generating more IGR for the state. He also prioritized agriculture and stated his plan to build rice mill in Uzo-Uwani.
In his welcome address, the House of Assembly Candidate for Uzo-Uwani, Hon. Stephen Okenwa said that Chief Uche Nnaji is a God-sent Messiah to Enugu State and solicited the support of the Local Government.
In his remarks, the House Representative Candidate for Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani federal constituency, Chief Sam Ekwueme, popularly called Odozi Obodo, asked the people to give APC only 4 years by ensuring 5/5 massive votes from the people stressing that Uzo-Uwani is the most neglected local government in Nigeria for 24 years of PDP misrule, promising to change the ugly situation of the LG within 4 years.
The Chairman of the Party, Hon. Ugochukwu Agballa revealed the APC plan to use Adada River to improve the fertility of the land of Uzo-Uwani by irrigation, maintaining that agriculture is the greatest input to the economy of any state in the world.
The APC Deputy Governorship Candidate Barr. George Ogara Tabugbo in his address eulogizes that Uzo-Uwani is the chicken that lays the golden egg to Enugu State. He said that Uzo-Uwani will be supported to become the food basket of the State. In his final remark, he promised that the incoming APC government will pay frequent visits to Uzo-Uwani for Projects commissioning.
