The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is preparing to suspend the Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, along with other party members, due to alleged anti-party activities. The announcement came from APGA’s National Chairman, Chief Edozie Njoku, during a press briefing at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Njoku accused Soludo of obstructing the NWC’s efforts to restore harmony within the party and indicated that the names of those to be suspended, including Soludo, would be revealed on September 26, 2024. He emphasized that Soludo would not automatically secure the party’s ticket for a second term as governor, stating that anyone wishing to run for the office must go through a fair and transparent primary process.

Njoku also expressed concern over the increasing internal tensions within the party, noting that while suspending elected officials is not ideal, the NWC had reached a critical point. He criticized Soludo for acting as if he were above the party and reiterated that no individual, including the governor, is bigger than APGA.

The NWC has reached an agreement to suspend around 80% of the identified members involved in anti-party activities, with Soludo being one of them. Njoku underscored that APGA is determined to address these issues to protect the party’s integrity and ensure its continued relevance in the political landscape.
