Barely 48 hours after a court hearing in Abuja High Court, for the case between Barr. George Ogara and Senator Ayogu Eze & Ors, not less than two campaign buses for President Muhammadu Buhari reelection have been destroyed by expositions by unknown men on Saturday night, 22nd December.
The campaign buses which were branded Buhari/Osibanjo were destroyed along side critical facilities of Barr. George Ogara campaign office at Ogui Road, Enugu.
Reacting to the incident, Ogara acknowledged the efforts of the State Fire Service which rescue the situation timely. He further called on the security agencies and other relevant institutions to investigate the attack and bring the perpetrators to book.
A statement released by his Campaign Organization reads in part, “On the night of 22nd December 2019, the office of the GOT 2019 campaign in Ogui road Enugu was rocked by explosions. The incident, which led to the destruction of some vehicles for the Buhari/Osinbajo and George Ogara campaign, also destroyed some sections of the building.
“If not for the timely intervention of the State Fire Service, considerable damage would have been done to the entire vicinity.
“As we await the outcome of the investigation being carried out by the conventional Police and Bomb squad, we wish to use this medium to call on well meaning Nigerians to condemn this dastardly act by people of evil intent.
“We are surprised that barely a few days to the court ruling on the bonafide gubernatorial candidate of APC in Enugu State, some people are already jittery and will rather use thuggish and criminal approach in a clear legal matter.
“Be that as it may, we wish to reiterate that APC is a peaceful party of patriots and cannot diminish our standings by the action of a few disgruntled elements from PDP, (masquerading as our members) where thuggery, violence and visionless leadership is rife.
“While we wait for 2019 to liberate the people of Enugu State, through the ballot and not violence, we call on the IG of Police and the Presidency, to take urgent note of what is happening in Enugu State and nip it in the bud.
“We also use this medium to call on our supporters and good people of Enugu State, to be calm and allow the law to take its full course and bring the culprits to book.”
