Appreciating The Significance Of His Death And Resurrection.
By Apostle Gospel Chukwuma Nnate (AGCN)
Proof Texts:
Luke 24:1-12
Matthews 28:1-10
Introduction:
Easter is more important than Christmas. But unfortunately, people celebrate Christmas more than Easter because they lack the understanding.
Every other events that we celebrate are more of natural, not supernatural. Christ died and resurrected and that calls for celebration. If Christ did not resurrect, our faith would have been in vain, …our salvation would have been in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:16-17
But thanks be to God that he rose. Because he rose our faith is not in vain. Because he has risen, we become of all men most blessed and not miserable. 1 Corinthians 2:6-8.
It is understanding that makes one outstanding. It is important to understand the essence of His resurrection. Hosea 4:6
Resurrection is the demonstration of the ultimate power of God. God showed His Ultimate power by resurrecting Jesus Christ from death. Resurrection transfers to us the power of God – the power that is above all powers
All power has been given to Jesus by His resurrection.
Matthews 28:18
The power given to Christ is what Christ has also given to us. The resurrection of Jesus transferred to us power. Luke 10:19, John 20:21.
Benefits of His Resurrection
- It takes us from filthiness to holiness
Sin has no more domination over us. We died with Christ and also rose with him. We are no longer under the law but under grace. Romans 6:5-7
The resurrection power destroyed our sinful nature - It moves us from weakness to strength
Revelation 5:12
Never succumb to weakness. You are strong even at your weakness.
1 Corinthians 15:43
Romans 6:4-7, Ephesians 2:6, Romans 8:11 - It takes us from Shame to Glory
By His resurrection we are moved shame to glory. We shall never be put to shame.
Joel 2:26, Isaiah 54:4 - It takes us from captivity to Liberty.
By His resurrection you are set free from every captivity. - It takes us from sickness to health
The power of resurrection forbids his children to be sick.
Matthews 8:17
Disease is anything that displeases our life. Disease is not only HIV or COVID-19. His resurrection delivers us from every disease and sickness.
Isaiah 53:4-5
What is the will of God concerning our health?
There are two types of will of God in our lives. We have the perfect will and the permissive will of God.
The perfect will:
The perfect will of God is the absolute desire or will that God has towards His people. For example it is the perfect will of God that we be in good health. It was the perfect will of God that man should not die not until the fall of man.
3 John 2.
The permissive will:
The permissive will of God comes to play when the conditions for God’s perfect will are not met. For example it is the perfect will of God that we be in good health but peradventure we are sick, His permissive will is that we be healed. God had preordained His son Jesus Christ before the foundation for sin sacrifice for the whole world should man fall.
Exodus 15:26
- It takes us from poverty to prosperity
2 Corinthians 8:9
He was made poor for us to be rich. You are not meant to beg for bread. We must therefore reject poverty.
Psalms 34:10, Psalms 84:11.
You may not have the whole world but you can not beg for bread, your family would be well fed.
Zechariah 1:17
The problem we have is that we seek amiss. We seek after addition instead of seeking first the kingdom of God. Matthew 6:33 - It displays the exceeding riches of his grace
1 Corinthians 15:10
Romans 6:5,14
It is grace that makes one great
Without the grace of God struggle continues.
Without grace we are like grass
Grace turns one from nonentity to celebrity
It is grace that makes the natural supernatural.
Ephesians 2:6
Grace is not what you work out by yourself it is a gift. It is not by strength or might, it is God who gives grace.
It is the grace that takes you from ordinary man to extraordinary man.
