Mr. Nnamdi Ezemagu an Enugu based Lawyer said he did not accompany police officers from Force Headquarters Abuja to the house of Chief Christopher Okwor, the suspended Traditional Ruler of Ihekwuenu community in Aku, Igboetiti Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Ezemagu who is from the same community with Okwor said this in Nsukka on Monday while speaking with newsmen on the recent arrest of the embattled traditional ruler.
He said that, the clarification had become necessary because Mrs Martina Okwor the wife of the suspended monarch was quoted in some section of the media that he led some police men to their house in Nsukka LGA to arrest her husband.
“Mrs Okwor on the interview with some section of the media on October 9, alleged that I led some police officers to their residence in Obeachara Nsukka to arrest her husband on October 7 around 10pm.
“The allegation is baseless, false and unfounded because I was in Port Harcourt the capital of Rivers state to attend the case of one of my clients in court.
“I wonder if I have the power of bilocation to be in Port Hacourt at the same time be in Nsukka,” he said.
The lawyer expressed concern that media houses that granted interview to Mrs Okwor did not care to contact him to get his reaction on such weighty allegation.
“I was not given fair hearing by the reporters that interview Mrs Okwor and published that news story.
“I know the ethics of journalism demands balance of news report by given the accused the opportunity of fair hearing.
“There was no call nor text message to my mobile phone number to that effect by the reporter,” he said.
Ezemagu however urged media houses that published that story without getting his reaction to retract it or he would be forced to seek redress in court.
It would be recalled that, last month some persons suspected to be hired thugs demolished Anibuezes’ two bedroom apartment newly built for Mr Amibueze Nnadi a visually impaired old man by a philanthropist in Ihekwuenu community.
The traditional ruler of the Community, Igwe Christopher Okwor was accused of being responsible for the demolition, which made the Enugu State Government to suspend him as so to ensure smooth investigation into the matter.
